Childrens Museum, Greensboro, NC

We spent the day in Greensboro yesterday and took the little ones to the Children's Museum. They really had a ball there. Of course on is only 11 months but still she had a great play area and was able to do her own exploring. The older one, age 3 yrs, was really enjoying everything. She loved playing on the fire truck, in the airplane, the grocery store and a host of other places to play in. She loved to go through and shop in the grocery store and then have her daddy check her out at the cash register. It was just great to sit back and watch how they reacted to each scene there. A great place to visit with the kids.

Court Street, Jacksonville, NC

Where did they all go? The jewelry store? The bars? The restaurants? The clothing stores? But, as I stopped to walk and take a couple of pictures I could still hear the sounds, see the sights, and smell the food from my memories of Court Street. So many changes in the past 46 years...

And of course, don't forget Old Bridge Street

Stonewall Jackson Training School

Welcome to the Stonewall Jackson Training School located just outside Concord, NC. These here are the original buildings that were built back in 1909. Of course there is a much newer facility located behind all these buildings now. It was the first juvenile home in the state of North Carolina. I have to sit here and wonder what kind of boys were sent here. How were they treated here? Did they go on and lead productive lives from here?

The Cannon House

One of the "cottages", as they were called, where the boys were put up.

Another one of the "cottages".

The grounds around the school and cottages.

Concord Mills Mall

Finally back to the walking routine, I hope. On the cold and really hot days I can come here and walk in the mall. It's .8 miles per lap and if you walk all the entrance's it's 1 mile per lap. If the weather is good then I can go to the Fairfield Park over in Mint Hill and walk one of the two courses there.
