A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life. That is Honor, and there are way too manypeople in this country who no longer understand it.
So many of these homes built the same identical way. It's my understanding that these homes were built by the textile mills and the workers there then rented them from the company. They are all very nicely kept homes, it's just seeing so many of them and they are all the same that makes it somewhat funny. It's worth taking a drive through Kannapolis to see them plus the many other interesting places there in town. Hey, a really nice town and a pleasure to visit.

Yes, that is snow you see there in the picture. Big gigantic snowflakes. Yes it is pretty because I know that it won't last too long. I'm sure all the folks back up north are very happy for me. Just a rolling around and laughing. Well your day is coming folks.
RE: The Last Stand of Cpl Yale and LCpl Haerter RE: Twin Navy Crosses for Yale and Haerter for Those That Stood Their Ground And RE: Father and Son [Lieutenant General John Kelly and Lieutenant Rober Kelly]
On Nov 13, 2010 Lt General John Kelly, USMC, gave a speech to the Semper Fi Society of St. Louis, MO. This was only 4 days after his son, Lt Robert Kelly, USMC was killed by an IED while on his 3rd Combat tour. During his speech, General Kelly spoke about the dedication and valor of the young men and women who step forward each and every day to protect us. During the speech, he never mentioned the loss of his own son. He closed the speech with the moving account of the last 6 seconds in the lives of 2 young Marines who died with rifles blazing to protect their brother Marines. The entrance going into the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Carolina Christmas Lights. They say they have over 1 million lights and that I can believe. It was really a beautiful 2.5 mile drive and of course your headlights needed to be off. But that was not a problem because it was actually bright enough to see where to drive plus the turns and curves were well marked with rope lighting. A great show and well worth the $20 it cost to drive through it. Can only hope that they do it again next year.
I give you this
one thought to keep.
I am with you still,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken
in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars
That shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone—
I am with you still,
in each new dawn.
