Joe's Place

Did my son from Michigan opened a place down here in Shelby NC? Hey, way to go... looks like a great place grab a bite to eat. Well actually it's not his, but yet does carry his name. So I guess in a way he is always down here with me. Click  here for more info on Joe's Place.

Memorial Day - A time to remember... A time to reflect...

A day set aside to remember our loved ones who have passed and our veterans who gave their lives for all of us.

I posted this one video first of all because I found it very moving as they bring Sgt Emerson Brand home to Texas and wanted it to represent those in the military that gave their lives for us.  And secondly because of the song that goes with this video, "Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill.

Rest In Peace Mom & Dad
"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble none about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to non…

Green Canopy

A beautiful green canopy over the woods below... So quiet and peaceful

Have Faith That The Corner Store Will Return

Or maybe it's time has just come... and gone...

Coffee Shop

Mmmm I think HeBrews then HeFlew... was pretty much an empty building.

The Barn

I can just picture this barn as a home. Just wide open on the inside. The hayloft area being open to look down below. No walls, just large beams for the support inside. Well perhaps an enclosed bathroom would be good though.

The Green Pond

Hey, give ya $10 if you will swim across this pond.

Food Lion Auto Fair - 1931 Chevrolet "Vickie"

Very nice car, BUT, it would be like riding in a bottle of Pepto-Bismol.

All-Star Race 2011

The All-Star race for $1 million held each year at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. We now have the best track in all of the NASCAR circuit. There is no other track that can begin to compare to our Charlotte Motor Speedway. And Marcus Smith seems to be adding more family events here at the track which makes all the better, like the Christmas Lighting this past year. Now with the new HDTV screen will they do the premiere of Cars 2 here at the track? What a perfect place for it. They have the screen and the seating and Cars premiered here at the track back in May 2006. It only makes sense to do it again.

The new 80' x 200' HDTV screen the is just plain awesome!

And my favorite driver of course, Jr. (88)

What a picture! Not only do they have cameras on the front stretch, back stretch, turns, but also they are up in the stands with the crowd.

When we entered the track they were handing out these LED headbands by the Energizer. And this is when they dimmed the lights on the track and eve…

Rural NC

Welcome to Olive Branch NC. There is nothing like traveling through the countryside. Just so many neat things and places to see.

Yard Sale - Old Antique Furniture

What I've been told is that if you want to buy some old antique furniture this is the place to find it.

Food Lion Auto Fair - 1951 Cushman Scooter

I remember seeing these scooters all over town when I was a kid. You were really cool if you had one. I just wasn't cool.

Pee Dee River

The river is looking good. There are times when I have gone over this bridge you can so many of the rocks on the bottom of the river.

Shirts

The Polkton Shirt Company is now actually located at 6713 E Marshville Blvd, Marshville NC. This picture was taken of the plant in Polkton. I just didn't ever realize how many small companies are around this area that make clothing. It's really neat to read about some of these places.

Food Lion Auto Fair - 1971 Honda

I own a Honda Civic and they sure have come a long ways since this one here.

As Far As The Eye Can See

This was taken near Jones Pond just outside of Burnsville.

The Old Farm House

Not really all sure about this house. It's an old one but yet there is a satellite dish antenna along with another outdoor antenna located on the back. Then there appears to be a newer electrical service on the side of the house. Who knows...

Food Lion Auto Fair - 1969 Mercury Cyclone

Ye Olde Barn

And someday this will also be completely gone...

Blooming Flowers

Like they say, every now and then you need to stop and smell the flowers. And today I did just that.
