I love the quote on this one, "Budded on earth to bloom in Heaven"
I thought it was rather strange to see a table at a grave site.
"Sacred to the memory of Mary M. MauneyDaughter of David & Susannah McMackinand Consort of V. Mauneywho was born 13th June A.D. 1827and departed this life 3rd October A.D. 1850. She was a member of theM.E. Church and a professor of Religion. She fell a victim to that fataldisease - Consumption, and died in full and certainhope of Eternal Life. She has gone to the mansions of rest. From a region of sorrow and pain;To the glorious land of the blessedWhere she can never sorrow again." She died at the age of 23 and of alcohol? Well perhaps not. A friend of mine was kind enough to check out the word consumption, as I should have, and told me that it also means " a progressive wasting away of the body especially from pulmonary tuberculosis" which I think makes more sense considering the year she died and her age.
There is a small yellow streak towards the bottom and the right of the white tree in the center. Yes, this is one of the fireflies I was able to catch with the camera. The white light on the left is just a solar patio light. Click HERE to read more about the firefly.
This is the wind storm that passed through here Saturday night (6/18/11) around 5PM. Lots of wind but very little rain that came with it. No trees went over during the storm, but about 2 hours later I did hear and see a tree about 50 yards down from us go over. It just wound up falling against another tree. We did loose our power for about 5 or 6 hours.
"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their liv…
I ran across this sign at Cline's Country Antiques. I remember seeing this, and many more like it, when I was younger. Hey, why not? Smoke those cool menthol cigarettes. Feel and taste that fresh mountain air. Now, if you smoke them long enough there is no way in hell you would ever be able to begin to climb that mountain in the background. But that, they don't tell you.
Let me see now, if I buy this motor then all I will need will be a boat to go with it. Oh wow! I will then be all set for the Big Rock Fishing Tournament held out of Morehead City NC. Watch out boy's because here I come.
